Impermanence is looking through my eyes
I’m Walking through the shopping centre dressed in some disguise
Searching hard for things to own so I don’t have to be alone
And there’ll be things that I can hold on to

Oh but when this paint wears off
And these fancy rags turn to ragged cloth
Impermanence parades in faded colours

Like a veil between two worlds Oh so fine
Knows not time
Falling like leaves
Fermenting sweet like wine
Unfolding from the earth just like a ghost gum strong and tall
There’s times you see it face to face and times it’s hardly there at all

Beauty of the earth threatened by madness and despair
And the weariness of things to do - to have -to own - to want - to lose
While impermanence is weeping from our eyes
Tears of salty rivers running dry
Transience of simple things
take me home on stirring wind
On song of bird - on pretty stone…light on water

Like a veil between two worlds Oh so fine
Knows not time
Formless as the love inside us
With presence we’ll not be divided
Unfolding from the earth just like a forest strong and tall
There’s times you see it face to face and times it’s hardly there at all
May we learn to love how this place unites the grace that we have in us all
